Beautiful copy printed on laid paper bearing the" crowned two-headed big eagle "typical of French paper production of the 18th century, with large margins beyond the imprint of the plate, slightly burnished and with other minimal defects at the edges as well as some traces of old gluing visible on the verso but overall in excellent general condition. This is the opening panel of the famous collection of twenty-five engravings representing the episodes of the life of Catherine of the Medici Queen of France painted by Rubens around from 1622 and commissioned by the same Catherine widow of Henry IV and Regent, for the Palais de Luxembourg and now located in the Louvre. Bibliography: Duplessis "Les Audran" Paris 1892 pag. 52. LeBlanc "Manuel de l'Amateur d'Estampes" Paris 1854, vol.1 pag.104 n ° 330. Measurements in mm: 507 x 355
